CYCLE POLICY
At St. Alban?s School we work together, play together and pray together.
Our school would like to promote cycling in the following ways:
1) All pupils will be encouraged to undertake cycle training if they have not already done so. The Bikeability programme will be introduced in the academic year 2006/07 with a view to being carried out annually for Y6 pupils.
2) All pupils will be encouraged to
a) Wear a helmet.
b) Provide and be responsible for their own bicycle and lock.
c) Wear clothes that are visible to other road users.
3) All pupils will be expected to
a) Investigate a suitable cycle route for their journey to and from school.
b) Let parents/guardians know the route they will be using.
c) Report any problems with their route to either the school or their parents/guardians.
4) Dismount on arrival at the school site.
5) In order to help with this cycle policy the school will provide a safe place for bikes to be stored. (Pupils/ guardians are responsible for the locks) and safe storage for cycle helmets.
Please note:
The school cannot accept any responsibility for the safety of the bikes being stored nor the safety of the pupils on the journey to and from school. Bikes are chained to fencing outside the office and are usually in view of administration staff.
