General Rules of Using the Internet

Never give out any personal information like your home address, the school you go to, your home or mobile number or your parents phone number and address.  Even giving out just one of these means that person can find you.

If you are using the internet and you accidentally come across something you are not comfortable with seeing, tell your teacher or parents straight away.

Never meet up with anyone you meet online, they may seem like nice people that are willing to listen but they may just be acting nice to get you to meet up with them.  Most sites say to meet up in a public area but even this is just not safe.

Don't send any pictures of you or your family to anyone without checking with your parents first, again sending out pictures can make you easy to find.

If you are on MSN or reading your e-mails and you come across a message that is mean or you don't feel comfortable reading it, tell you parents or a teacher straight away.  You won't get into trouble.

Do not give out your password to anyone other than your parents, even your best friends!  If you do it means that others can use your name to download things they shouldn't or to send e-mails out, and you will be the one that's in trouble.

Remember that there are nasty people online just like there are offline but follow these rules and you can have fun on the internet whether it's reading about music or sport or talkin to family and friends that you know personally.
